Watercolor Background Tutorial using Copic Markers

Before we get to the hop list I wanted to share a little bit about my card. I of course wanted to use my beloved Copic Markers so I had to put my thinking cap on a little and I truly love what I came up with!

First I chose a stamp from the Altenew New Day Card Kit and stamped in my Versamark. Then, I used my embossing powder and embossed it. The paper I used to stamp and emboss on is my Copic friendly Cryogen Cardstock — since I’ll be using my Copics.

Once your image is all embossed I took a sheet of acetate and made some scribbles with some random Copic Markers. I’m using BG07, B23 and V17.

Then I took a mini spray bottle and filled it with some rubbing alcohol and sprayed all over the acetate. You really want to spray enough to wear the ink is mixing together and you can’t see the ink streaks anymore.

Then turn the acetate over onto your paper and embossed image pressing all of the ink all over so it saturates the paper.

Now, you can repeat that with new colors or the same if you want more rich tones. I just did it the one time.

That’s all folks! How simple and fun is this? I hope I have inspired you to create your own Watercolor background using Copic Markers.
