One Trick to Fussy Cutting and using your Copic Markers
Hello crafty peeps! Today I’m sharing a super-duper cute card made with Newton’s Nook Stamps, Hedgehog Hollow. Are you a fan of Fussy Cutting? Well, if you are — Here’s One Trick to Fussy Cutting and using your Copic Markers. Today is my last post as guest designer and I’ve been so honored to be apart of their amazing team throughout this last month. This little hedgehog stamp set is from their new release and comes with some darling sentiments that are versatile.. Notice how I double stamped the hedgehog to give him some dimension on the mushroom. I was going to do the basic reddish-brown mushroom but then decided to go all colorful. It kinda reminds me of The Smurfs Cartoon. (I’m really hoping there were not any of you who are like, ‘ What is The Smurfs Cartoon!!)
How to …
I try to give some type of tip or tutorial in my posts.. so here it is. I love the way my images come out when I break down and do some fussy cutting. Also, I really wanted to make this little guy look 3D, so I stamped him twice, one for my base and the other for my dimension. The image on the bottom doesn’t have very many coloring details, he’s actually colored pretty flat – bla! As for the the image I did some fussy cutting on.. is the one I put all of my Copic Details into. None of the mushrooms were double stamped, I just stamped them the one time and used a dimensional to adhere to my scene.
When I cut out an image I like to get as close as I can to the outline of the stamp, which sometimes leaves a little white. Here’s One Trick to Fussy Cutting that will stay with you for e-v-a! To get rid of that white area and make it seem like you are a PRO-cutter all you need to do is go along the edge of the paper using the side of my Copic Marker with N5.I believe this works with any image that you have stamped in a black outline, or dark ink. If you have stamped in a different color then I would suggest using something close to that color you stamped your image in.
Before One Trick to Fussy Cutting – adding N5..
After adding N5..
- Doesn’t adding that little bit of color make a huge difference! I do this little trick anytime I color and then cut something out. It makes my cutting look so precise.

Great idea, I’ll have to give it an try. I very seldom ever fussy cut, but use my Brother ScanNCut to cut out my images But most of the time that I have to fussy cut I do it with an Xacto knife on a glass mat. This makes it real easy to cut.
Great idea Mindy, the example look great. When I have to fussy cut I do it on a glass mat and a Xacto knife, this make the cutting go real fast and even.
Beautiful card and so beautiful colourized.

This card is absolutely adorable! Your fussy-cutting and coloring skills are amazing!
This is super cute. Love fussy cutting and I always use a marker along the cut edges too, but I usually use black because most of my image I stamp with black ink. This hedgehog is so cute sitting on the mushroom and love the dimension you a added. Surely hope everyone knows the smurfs 🙂 There is no excuse not to since the recent newer smurfs movies!!
Thanks so much for sharing!!
