How to get more depth in your Copic Coloring

I’m so excited about today’s post! Today I’m going to show you How to get more depth in your Copic Coloring! Awesome, right!?

First let me tell you, I’m using this adorable stamp and die set, Posie Parts, by Tammy Tutterow Designs. Today the designers are up on her blog so be sure to pop on over there for an extra dose of inspiration!

How many of you want a more drastic effect to your Copic coloring? Don’t you want that rich deep shade and blend it into the the light colors for that dark to light gradient?

YES!!!

You might also want to check out my Copic Marker Resource page — there’s some great information there!

If you don’t have a set of Neutral Grey Copics you are seriously missing out. I’m not even saying you need all 10 markers. Get all the odds or evens, but make sure you get N0 regardless. The reason why these are an absolute must is because they work great with just about any color palette. By adding N5, N7 or N9 to the darkest shade in your palette you are deepening that color by so much. This will give you a much richer, deeper shade making your coloring that much more detailed.

In this first photo I colored my flower using BG11, BG13 and BG18.

Then I added some N5 to the shadows in my petals closest to the center of the flower.

Then I went back over using my BG11, BG13, BG18 and look how much darker and detailed my flower is now compared to my first photo. Pretty neato taledo, right?!
