How to Create an Arctic Background using Copic Markers
I’m so super excited about this post! I posted a sneak peek of this on my Instagram and had a huge response to it. So I really think so many people are really going to love this tutorial! ♥
I’m using super cute stamps and dies from Pretty Pink Posh. The polar bear and sentiment is from Winter Wonderland Stamp Set.The scalloped die is from the Scalloped Borders Die Set. I stamped my image in Memento Black Ink and stamped onto my Copic Xpress it Blending Cardstock. I used my Mini Misti to line up and stamp my image — it’s the reason why I have a perfectly crisp stamped image. if you need a tutorial on how to use a Misti heck out THIS TUTORIAL!
How did I come up with this scene.. Well, I first chose what image I wanted then I did a google search on polar bear illustrations. I carefully looked through and focused on the colors in the waters and sky and ice. Another thing I look at is the textures and the different strokes each artist uses. Then I made it my own. This is SO IMPORTANT as an artist. You want to learn from a variety of different people and find what works for you and make it your own. I don’t think there’s any wrong or right way to create art. So — don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
Step by Step Tutorial
Ok, Now on with the tutorial. It’s about 25 photos so this is a photo heavy post.

- Bear – N1, E30, E31, C00
- Ice – C0, B0000, C2,
