How to Color Grass using Copic Markers
Hello my favorite crafty peeps! I hope you are all having a wonderful week so far. I have a fun tutorial to share with you. How to Color Grass using Copic Markers. I love creating scenes around my images. You can color grass so many different ways. I decided to go with the real grass look. I think this type of grass looks a lot more real than lets say the grass in my Be Brave Card.
This adorable image Hedgehog in a Pot is from Whimsy Stamps. I love the way my terra cotta pot turned out. Ok, let’s get to coloring..
- Copic Marker List
- Hedgehog – W7, E77, E39. E37, E35, E33, E31, E30
- Terra Cotta Pot – W7, E27, E23, E17, E13
- Sky – B0000, B000, B00, B12
- Ground – E33, E31, E30, E0000
- Grass – YG17, YG97, YG63, YG95, N7
- Butterfly – BV04, BV02, BV00, BV000
Tutorial
Before we start adding grass we need to start by laying down the dirt. So at the base of the pot start with the E33 and work your way down using E31, E30 and E0000.
Then in all different sizes add some grass blades, flicks, using YG17.
Here’s the entire grass area covered only with YG17.
Then go back through and add YG97 just like before. As you can see you can still see the dirt in between the grass blades.
Now get your YG93 and again, add more blades of grass in all sizes. Make sure you are just adding flicks of blades of grass and not blending the colors through. We want to be able to see the the grass blades.
With your YG95, make one stroke over the entire grass, covering the dirt. This is the same type of technique I use when I Color Hair using Copic Markers.
We want to sort of camouflage the grass that was already in the original stamp, since we added more blades of grass. So, I added some flicks of the N7 all throughout the scene.
I know it can be slightly nerve racking but make sure you color over the pot, too!
