How to color Christmas Lights using Copic Markers
Today I’m sharing a card using this super cute Snowman Stamp from Art Impressions. I had so much fun coloring this image. So, I wanted to share how I colored the lights and gave them that shine so I have a step by step tutorial below on How to color Christmas Lights using Copic Markers.
I stamped my image in Black Memento Ink and stamped onto my Copic Xpress Blending card. If you are having trouble blending your Copics it could very well be the paper you are using. I highly recommend trying Copic Xpress it Blending Card. I know you will love it!
Step by Step Tutorial
First I took my Christmas Light colors, V15, V12, V01, G85, G20, YG13, R39, R35, R20. The darker 2 colors I colored the bulb, with the darkest being at the base of the light bulb. Then taking that lightest color and creating a circle all the way around the bulb giving the light a glow of that color.
Then I shadowed the snowman using N3, N1 and C00. Since we are coloring white we want to leave a white space still, so be sure to do a heavy flick using the C00 so you get a good blend into the white.
I used R35 and R39 to color the hat and I did add some N5 for the darkest part of the shadows.
Then add some dots using the the YG13, R20 and V12 around the lights.
In between the lights we want to add a lighter blue so it looks light the lights are lighting up the night’s sky.
We will start adding some of the darker blue, B14.
After that, I made a boarder on the outside of my image flicking in towards the center using B99 and then moving in with each lighter color. So B99, B18, B14, B41 and then B00. You want to go over the glowing part of the lights using B00. So it looks light the sky is being lit.
Once you’re all finished color the rest of your snowman I used YR14, YR12 for the carrot nose and E7, E33, E31 and E30 for the arms and vest. Then I took my White Gel Pen and and made tiny dots on my lights and a little bit around them. I wanted to add some snow coming down too but wanted a little contrast between the glow of the lights and the snow so I made the snow a little bigger.
Don’t you just love the way he turned out with the bold blue background and the fun colors of the the lights. 🙂 I hope you enjoyed the tutorial on How to color Christmas Lights using Copic Markers!
