How to choose Copic Color Combos

I often get asked how I choose my Copic Marker color combinations, so I thought I would share some of the different ways I choose my Copic Marker Color Combos.

Google whatever it is you’re coloring

So since in this photo I’m coloring a Sunflower bunch and since it’s Fall I googled Fall Sunflower Bunch. This will bring up a ton of  images in google which will help you decide you color combos and help you with shading and where to add those shadows. If you have trouble deciding what color matches the Copic Colors try googling Fall Sunflower Bunch Illustration. This will simplify the colors and you can easily see which color looks closest to the Copic Colors.

Color Palette Sites

I love visiting the Color Palette Site, Design Seeds. This is an awesome site to visit to get different color palette ideas. I have a tendency to always pick up the same colors, making a lot of my cards look similar. This site will show you what colors look good together. They even post photos along with the color palette which is great because it can give you a feel of what color to use more, or not to use as much. I actually got the color palette I’m using on this card from here — sometimes just scrolling through this site is all I need for that boost of inspiration.

Ask a Family Member

I cannot even tell you how many times I’ve called one of my kids to my office and asked them to choose a color. Sometimes I’ll ask them to just pick a color out of their head and sometimes I’ll have them go to my Copic holder and choose a few different shades. I think asking a ‘kid’ is better because they will pick something wild. I have asked my hubby before and he just says — blue. That’s no fun.
