How to Blend a Rainbow with Copic Markers + 5 Rainbow Copic Color Combos

Today I’m sharing a card using Rachelle Anne Miller’s Flower Love Bird Digi Stamp and I’m going to show you How to Blend a Rainbow with Copic Markers + 5 Rainbow Copic Color Combos.

Since this image doesn’t have a whole lot of area for coloring, I really wanted to do something for the background to make the image really stand out. So, I thought a rainbow would be perfect.

I printed my “Flower Love Birds Digi” on my  Copic Xpress it Blending Card — my favorite paper to use with Copic Markers. Check out my Copic Marker Must Haves.  Check out my Resizing Video Tutorial — I show you how to resize in Word and also in Photoshop.

Here are the Copic Marker color combos I’ve used:

  • Birds – E41, E42, E43
  • Leaves and grass – YG11, YG13
  • Flowers + bugs – R32, R30, E41, E42, V01, Y11,
  • Rainbow – R32, R30, YR00, Y11, YG11, B000, V01, RV10
  • Sky – B000

Rainbow Copic Marker Color Combos

Below you will see photos of different color Rainbow Copic Marker Color Combos. In the video below you will see how to blend the colors of a rainbow together. For the most part I’m only blending the colors shown below. It does get a little tricky with yellow — but I’m going to share a few different tips that will help you get your yellow blended better.

In the video I’m going to show you how to blend my go to colors into a rainbow. I’ll also show you some nib to nib coloring.

1st photo “Pastel Rainbow” – R30, YR00, Y11, YG11, B000, V01

2nd photo “Bright Rainbow” – RV25, YR04, Y02, YG45, BG05, V17

3rd photo “My Colors Rainbow” – R32, YR12, Y21, BG11, B12, BV000

Sparkle Technique

I often do this sparkle technique with my white gel pen – it really makes the coloring look like it’s sparkling and can really make the colors stand out more. In this card I did add a little bit of stardust stickles because I feel like it really needed to have that extra sparkle!

1 Step – Add a couple of t’s and dots.

2 Step – Then right around the larger dots and the t’s just tap the white gel pen on the paper make dots all around that area. The farther you move away from the t’s and larger dots the more spread out the tapping of the white gel pen to the paper.

TIP: Where to add the dots first? Well, you see in the photo above how some of the red from the rainbow went into some of the bird? Start adding dots or the “Sparkle Technique” there. It’s a great way to hide where you have gone outside the lines. 🙂 Take a look at the photo below and see how well it hides the mistakes.
