Creating Shine using Copic Markers

I had so much fun coloring up this little guy from Pink and Main’s Plane-Sweet stamp set. It was so hard to choose between the puppy, elephant and the bear. I went ahead with the bear of course.

This stamp set is seriously awesome! That little waving banner isn’t part of the plane stamp and neither is that ‘take flight’ sentiment. You can completely build your little scene.. and it’s so much fun. Of course I got it to look perfect by using my Mini Misti by My Sweet Petunia. If you have no idea what this is or how to use it check out my Misti Tutorial!

I used my Copic Markers to color, I used my Black Memento Ink to stamp onto my Copic Xpress Blending paper.

I wanted to share how I created the shine on my plane. So here’s my tutorial on Creating Shine using Copic Markers.

Copic Markers used:

  • Bear – E42, E43, E44
  • Hat – E29, E17, E13
  • Goggles and scarf – B23, B26, W9, W5
  • Plane – Y35, YR04, YR07, YR09, E99
  • Propeller – W5, W9
  • Waving banner – N0, N1, N3, N5
  • Sky – B00, B000, B23

Use your Plane colors and create a gradient just like in the photo below.

Then leave a tin white space under your gradient using your YR04 and fill it the rest of the plane but leave that thin white strip.

Shadow the plane and then use your YR07 and YR04 and blend out the shadows. This time when you go over that white strip with one swipe over with YR$ that area is going to be the lightest on the plane.

Then take your white gel pen and make a few lines almost like a scribble line and a dot or 2.. to give it that white shine.
