Coloring Die Cuts with Copic Markers
I’m so excited to share this tutorial with you today. I have so many dies that don’t necessarily have a coordinating stamp, like this gorgeous flower die designed by Tammy Tutterow. Just because there’s now image outline doesn’t mean you can’t give it some awesome details using your Copic Markers. Today I’m going to show you Coloring Die Cuts using Copic Markers.
I cut out this die, Shabby Posies using my Spellbinders’ Grand Caliber. I used my Copic Friendly paper, Copic Xpress it Blending Paper. The sentiment is also a stamp from Tammy Tutterow’s stamp line, Make Today Your Best Day. I only inked up half of it using my Memento Black ink.
It’s been so hot here in Southern California, we went from Winter to Summer! Seriously already in the 90’s I really enjoy my 75 degree weather, I sure hope we get a little bit of Spring. That being said I made a very hot summer card using all orange! I love it!
Copic Markers Used:
- E23, YR09 YR12, YR00
Before you lay down any color, pay attention to the little indents in the die. These little indents are to make the die look real and represent little creases in the flower. So let’s define those creases by using our Copic Markers!
Once you get to this step, do not go over and over the entire petal, just use the YR00 and do one swipe over the petal. You don’t want to mix all the colors and loose the definition of the creases we have just put on the flower petal.
For the center of the flower I used the same color combo just in a circular motion and I only used the E23 for dots. I used all the colors for dots, giving the center of the flower lots of fluffy texture!
