It’s time for another FREE Digi! Woo hoo!! Today we are Coloring a Giraffe using Copic Markers + FREE Digi Stamp. I just love this card. I actually drew this little giraffe a few months ago and I was searching online for some background and color ideas and I found this gorgeous photo of a giraffe. If you’d like to learn how I get ideas with colors and inspiration check out THIS POST where I go into more details of my process.

I printed my giraffe at 3 inches tall and printed on my Copic Xpress it Blending Card which is my favorite to color on. If you are looking for some products that work well with Copics check out my Copic Must Haves.

After you download and print out your digi follow along this mini tutorial on how I colored this cutie up. You don’t have to use the exact colors I’m using any coordinating browns will work. 🙂

Here’s a full list of colors I’ve used:

  • Giraffe – E41, E42, E43, E44, E33, E37,
  • Grass – YR14, YR12, Y35, E37, E33, , N9
  • Sky – B12, B00, BG000, B0000

Coloring a Giraffe Copic Tutorial

This first photo is where your shadowed areas are, so you will flick going into the white areas from these shaded areas.

I color from dark to light, or medium to light and then to dark. I almost always add a second coat of color because of 2 reasons.

First, because you might not have gotten a good blend the first time so you’ll need to add more color in order to get that color moving and blending together on the paper.

Second reason is because after adding the lighter colors your darker colors tend to get a little ‘washed’ out so you want to add that deeper shade back into your image/scene.

So, After adding the E43 like shown in the above photo I then added E42 and E41 — pushing that darker color into the light which blends the colors through, using the ‘flicking’ technique.
