5 Fun Cardmaking Techniques using Ellen Hutson Stamps

I’m so excited to be sharing these cards with you today! These are new stamp and die sets just release from Ellen Hutson. I’ve made 5 different cards using these 3 new sets.

This first card I’m actually going to have a blog post up on Sunday sharing how I colored this new Binge Watching Lady from the Leading Ladies collection. So make sure you pop over on the Ellen Hutson Channel and Check it out!

Technique #1 – Create your own Patterned Paper

I stamped all the little accessories from the Binge Watching Lady Set in all different directions. I stamped on my Copic Xpress it Blending card using Black Memento Ink and colored all the images using my Copic Markers.

Here’s a list of the Copic Markers I used on this card : R32, R30, E13, E11, E00, E000, BG13, BG11, BG10, Y21, R81, YG13, N3, N1, N0, N9, N5

Technique #2 – Create your own Background using Copic Markers

Since she’s in her jammies and ready to binge watch some Game of Thrones I wanted to create a sofa behind her. I first ‘sketch’ it out in my Copic color E40 and then colored it in adding the different shades. The colors I used for my sofa are E40, E41, E42, E43 and E44.

Creating backgrounds is one of my favorite things to do. I have tons of Free Background Tutorials as well as some Online Coloring Classes.

Technique #3 – Create a Background using 3 Distress Oxide Inks in a pattern

Create a background using 3 different distress oxide colors. I’m using Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn and Scattered Straw. I created a straight up and down pattern. I stamped my flower in white ink. This flower is from the new release at Ellen Hutson and is called Mondo Wildflowers.

Technique #4 – Create a Background using 3+Distress Oxide Inks no pattern

Create a background using 3 different distress oxide colors. I’m using Scattered Straw, Mowed Lawn, Worn Lipstick, Tumbled Glass and Wilted Violet. I sponged my ink in a diagonal pattern with no specific color pattern. Then, stamped my Mondo Wildflower image in white ink on my sponged background.

Technique #5 – Create Dimension Stamping Your Image More than Once

I love doing this because it really adds a lot to your card with a little effort. First I stamp my card and create my scene. I stamped onto my Copic Xpress it Blending Card using my Black Memento ink so I can color using my Copic Markers. Then stamped my images again and this time I colored them with more details. I only stamped 2 layers but depending on your image you can stamp 3 and 4 times cutting out certain parts to make them more 3d like. Take a look at THIS POST for another example.

Copic Marker Colors Used : N0, N1, N3, N5, R30, R32, E21, E23, E25, E27, YR04, Y35, B00, B000
